Simple.
The Opposite of what Sam Allardyce did much too little of .
You take some chances and attack with want and pace add to that some players who have skill and are prepared to put their heart on the line and the punters might be happy. Souness does not have a clue total fool to himself, what any of the three muppets see in Allardyce I do not understand I will always try and respect Allardyce but God was he a boring one dimensional awful manager. West Ham fans would have shut up and put up if he just got the results all he did was lose tons of winnable games by sitting back at home.

You don't need to be a pundit to know what the West Ham Way is. It's every player giving total commitment as the fans do. If some can add flair and a trick or two then that goes down well too.
What it isn't is a manager that is disloyal to his own fans; disrespects them by calling them "deluded" and cupping his ear; plays athletes rather than mixing in skilful players; when criticised for not giving kids a chance chucks them all into a cup-tie against Championship opposition.

Ron Greenwood quote :
"Entertaining football is a thing of chance and I never saw the game as anything else. We made friends because we were different, sometimes we were made to feel that we were the last of a dying breed. We did not win championships but, oh yes, there were compensations".

In a nutshell the "West Ham Way" is based on the ethic of playing entertaining football.
Apparently John Lyall often said to the players well done lads good win but you didn't really entertain me today.

Romance over pragmatism.
The desire to play the beautiful game, or at least die trying.
That was why Sam's time was so hard to stomach, as it was polar opposite of that. We needed it, though, a brief period of swallowing our pride due to extreme financial woes.
But now, as the old chant goes....
WEST HAM ARE BACK! WEST HAM ARE BACK! ALLO! ALLO!

Losing 4 nil in the cup semi final and singing for the whole match non stop. Winning three nil at half time and losing 4-3 Losing 4 nil at home to Arsenal and winning 2 nil away at Arsenal Dicksie smashing a right winger into the Chicken Run and scoring an unstoppable penalty Bobby Moore scoring from 25 yards and walking away without celebrating DiCanio's swagger Moaning fans walking out early Ecstatic fans at Wembley Fortune's Always Hiding and everything that implies That's the West Ham way for me

I've been supporting West Ham for over 50 years and I've never subscribed to the West Ham way. Its just made up media bollocks with a few of our supporters actually believing it exists despite us being nothing but inconsistent during my time.

The West Ham way
The Crest, The History
Its a family. some of us don't have. the song sends shivers down your spine. it aint elitist. it takes all comers. we live and die by our results. we want a father in charge. someone to guide our ship in the right way.we have it. too late for some like me. tevez wasn't the best player but for some of u, he was the last who gave a fuck. its sitting in your seat and seeing the man to your right.
ask what west ham does for you. does it tell u to fuck off.my mum has
always there.

Playing with style & doing it in a classy manner. Having at least 1 if not 2 ball players in the team in general playing for the club, the fans, the badge.
Thats why the '86 side is remembered so fondly, we had exactly all of that.
Fuck me, it makes me sit here and smile just thinking about it again!
